Getting much of his inspiration from the local scenery around Dumfries and Galloway and particularly The Machars where he presently lives. Also his adolescent years growing up in Devon and Cornwall gave him a great love of the sea and the coast which he now uses to advantage in his paintings.  

Working mainly in Oils, and latterly Acrylics, Alex has developed his own recognisable style in both his figurative and abstract work and has work hanging in personal collections, including in Australia and Canada.

His career encompasses over 30 years in the art trade, both buying and selling art (other people’s), whilst owning and running a gallery and framing business in Sussex.

Since retiring and recently moving to the Galloway countryside he has  been able to indulge in his enduring passion for painting and with a dedicated studio space develop new techniques and styles.
